Two millennia of history have shaped the personality of Senlis.
From Antiquity to the present day, many characters, famous and humble alike, have trodden its cobblestones. Hugues Capet, the stonemasons, Séraphine, the coopers… each has left his or her mark, each has contributed to shaping its soul.
Over the years, new buildings have not altered the charm of the streets and homes with their patina of the centuries. Here, every stone seems to tell its own story.
And this history is still alive: the town as a living theater for film shoots, vaults resonating with divine concerts, spaces sublimated by powerful artistic performances… and also an economic activity zone, spaces dedicated to commerce, numerous schools and sports facilities… history is also conjugated in the present.
The aim of this book is to help you discover places you’ve already seen, and to make you want to see them again, because cities are a bit like human beings: they are born, they grow, they evolve, but they remain themselves.
